Kayaking at Harbour Club Villas

Harbour Club guests taking a rest on this tiny idyllic slip of a beach outside the Marina entrance.

Tropical storm Chantal had fizzled out leaving us with hot but hazy weather for today. Perfect for a bit of a work out with the kayaks. Dan and Lynnetta took off with the ocean kayaks to explore the beautiful shore line just outside the Marina entrance at Harbour Club Villas.  There are small coves with pure white sand and since these are tidal, much depends on what time you choose to go out. The turquoise water is shallow so guests can hug the shoreline or cut right across without any worries.

Shooting from the top of the hill at Harbour Club through the masts of sailboats moored in the Marina.

Heading back the water was calm with a little breeze.

Delou's beaches are usually deserted so you can have your own private little beach.

A short paddle down past the Marine Biology School, a turn to the right and home.

It was definitely a good day today with cloudy skies keeping the temperatures just perfect for a kayak excursion.

Taylor Bay R & R

Arriving at Taylor Bay beach on Sunday........wow, the colours were so vibrant.

Arriving at Taylor Bay beach on Sunday........wow, the colours were so vibrant.

Sunday we motored over to Taylor Bay. There were ominous black clouds with thunder in the distance but we hadn’t been out for a while so that didn’t stop us. We were the only people there in the early afternoon too so we had the place to ourselves for a few hours.

Little Malaika loved playing on the beach after having been in Europe for the past six weeks.

The ominous black clouds just hovered over us but there was still lots of sunshine and no rain showers.

Another perfect afternoon on the water. We hope you’ll be able to visit us soon and enjoy the beaches of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Marina Sunset

Another one of our glorious sunsets at Harbour Club Villas. Cocktail hour or two sitting on the benches over looking the Marina.

A wonderful way to relax after a busy day. We go up on the hill and just sit enjoying the view as we watch the sun set. I sure missed this while in Miami for all those weeks.

Orchids

Orchids blooming with the marina entrance in the background.

This Tall Encyclia orchid was growing on the rock ridge overlooking the entrance to our marina. The days have been so gloomy and so I decided to see if the rain had made our local plants bloom. The Encyclia Altissima orchids are growing all over and flowering at this time of year. This one was quite showy with vivid purple striped lines on its petals.

The Marina channel and Cooper Jack Bight were perfectly calm creating a pastel backdrop of colours as the sun tried to break through the clouds.

We have been waiting for days to see the sunshine and today was the day……….and it lasted all day!

Power Boat Charters

Wow....what a gorgeous cruiser.........the boat I mean but Captain Keith was impressive too with bow tie and striped jacket.

Wow....what a gorgeous cruiser.........the boat I mean but Captain Keith was impressive too with bow tie and striped jacket.

Last night at South Side Marina which is adjacent to Harbour Club Villas’ Marina, we enjoyed a wonderful evening of champagne and a delicious buffet to celebrate the launching of Captain Keith’s luxury island charters. We walked down from the villas to our Marina docks and took a look at “Foot Loose” lit up for the party and the Christmas season. What a beautiful and elegant power cruiser she is!!

Motor out along the southern coastline or out to French Cay and West Caicos, perhaps a trip to South Caicos or even Grand Turk. You’ll be whisked away to deserted cays, do some snorkeling, total relaxation and when you get hungry, you’ll be served a sumptuous champagne buffet.

Kayaking

Faith, a Weimerammer, was not going to be left behind!

Faith, a Weimaraner, was not going to be left behind!

Kayaking is a fun way to see the south side of Providenciales where Harbour Club Villas are located. Kayaks can be put into the water off our Marina docks and you can have great fun exploring the little beaches and coves. On this flat calm day, we were out in a Boston Whaler and just had to snap this photo of friends down the road who were out for a paddle with their dog Faith.

Keep on kayaking!

End of the day

Coming home this evening we were treated to a spectacular sunset

Coming home this evening we were treated to a spectacular sunset

The end of a relaxing day on the water and another island sunset. This one had some amazing cloud formations over the southern shoreline from Osprey Rock, Taylor Bay and Sapodilla Bay.

We had a lovely afternoon on the water and as we turned into Harbour Club’s marina , the sun was just disappearing over Cooper Jack hills. The photo is taken just by the Marine Biology School where the canal leads off towards Turtle Lake. A great place to watch the sun go down into the ocean and perhaps see “the green flash” is at Sapodilla Bay.

Bonefish Point Sandbar

A perfect afternoon on and in the water with the boys pulling us up to the sandbar..........it simply was the best

A perfect afternoon on and in the water with the boys pulling us up to the sandbar..........it simply was the best

We both had family visiting so it was an opportunity to take a leisurely run out to the sand bar at Bonefish Point. We took off from our marina at Harbour Club Villas. There’s a deep water channel ( 12 feet deep or so ) to the right of the sandbar and all of a sudden you’re in a foot of water. The guys put the anchor out and then decided to walk it into the shallows.

We saw some beautiful sea cushions ( see my previous post) and some smaller white starfish. Laura explored some rocks in the shallows and found numerous hermit crabs.

Barry, Tina and Sheldon stayed in the water pretty much all afternoon.

We all cooled off by staying in the water beer in hand. The Bonefish Point sandbar is on the south west tip of the island and accessible by road now. It never used to be……….the only way of getting here a few years ago was by boat or doing an excursion with Capt. Bill of Ocean Outback. This trip by the way is a great way of seeing the south shoreline. Hope you get to see this part of our island too.

Spring Storm at sea

A spring storm out over the banks creates unbelievable colours as we watched from the Marina at Harbour Club

The days of late have been unsettled with sporadic showers. I glanced out to sea from our villas at Harbour Club and saw a vivid streak of turquoise. I rushed to get my camera and went up to our look out on the hill overlooking our marina. Wow, what a sight…………. storm clouds were gathering out at sea and had turned the waters of Discovery Bay into the most glorious turquoise, green and aqua colours.

The colours of the ocean today were breathtaking as we watched the storm move over the water.
