Wishing Moms everywhere a sun shiny day filled with love and laughter and a rose or two. Our Desert Roses here at Harbour Club Villas seem to be thriving in the dry weather we’ve had of late. They are loaded with beautiful pink and deep pink blooms.

Haiti
Locally here on Provo there are centres for collection of water and clothing for our friends suffering in Haiti. We heard from our Turtle Tail Neighbourhood watch folks that the Provo Air Centre was needing volunteers and help. The Provo Air Center is now a central staging point for relief workers and pilots and anyone wanting to contribute aid in a direct and personal way was being asked to help by feeding the pilots and aid workers. Many of these wonderful folk are volunteers and all of them are on tight budgets. We were also asked to help by driving them between the Air Center and their hotels.

A unique looking dwelling in Cap Haitien........I can imagine how grand it might have looked in it's hey day.
In many cases these people are unable to get into Haiti for up to several days due to airport crowding and slot restrictions. They need transport to a hotel. The PAC drivers are hard pressed to keep up with demand.

I loved this small stretch of coastline in Cap Haitien....note the clothes laid out to dry on the rooftop.
Our neighbour was helping out at the Provo Air Center yesterday afternoon and the stories were amazing. Aid workers were enroute in to Haiti and expat survivors coming out. Some hadn’t eaten in 5 days. Our many neighbours on Turtle Tail were helping out down there as well as donating food and services. Barb wants everyone to know that there was overwhelming expressions of gratitude and appreciation from those being helped. Our folks are really making a difference. Thankyou to all! Please contact your local Red Cross , Salvation Army and donate all that you can.
Haiti…….you are all in our prayers,

Christmas Beach Baby
We took little Malaika down to the beach close to Harbour Club Villas. She loves to play in the sand and even though the weather today was a little overcast, it was Christmas picture perfect! The light was gentle as she crawled all over the sand as we tried to get her to forget the santa hat.
There was no one else on this little beach as we tried to get Malaika to smile and laugh for the photo……she was just too busy with the flowers.
Christmas wishes to all.

The Little Caribbean Mermaid

Benjamin the lobster fisherman, his faithful potcake Lucky meet an old woman (Josie Smith) who lures him into searching for a ring under the sea.
A simply stellar performance………I’m stunned at the depth of talent on display this evening at the first night performance of The Little Caribbean Mermaid and the Enchanted Ring. I’m not sure what I expected exactly but it was the most entertaining, fun filled evening full of laughter, comedy, to the point “in-jokes” about PPC, Lime and even JoJo the dolphin was part of the act.
Benjamin (Michael Burchill) and Lucky (Ian Arthur)explore under the sea searching for the ring and meet the beautiful Isabella (Alison Capron) and her best friend Queen Lareefah (Cora Malcolm) the Queen Angelfish.
Spectacular underwater sets, superb costumes and all the characters in the production kept the audience enthralled as they were drawn into participating in the performance. Shouts of laughter as the audience screamed “Behind you, Behind you” as the infamous Lionfish (Mervin Forbes) put in an appearance.
Salt (Matthew Williams) and Peppa (Bernard Rodriguens) the two bumbling secret agents made the audience laugh at their antics as the story unfolded.

The spotted drum fish (Aphrah Groves) had a swimmingly good time as she drummed her way through the show

This little one upstaged Isabella, the mermaid (sorry Alison!) as she danced up a storm in front of us.
CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!!!! What a resounding success…….we had such a good laugh and it was a great way to start off the Christmas season.

Jayne the writer and Mickey the "go to boy" in their usual every day attire....well it's the only photo of them that I have!!
I musn’t forget to mention that Jayne from Flamingo Divers wrote the script and Meryl Cooper was the director. Performances are at Brayton Hall on Dec 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12 at 7 pm nightly with a matinee at 2 pm on Saturdays. Tickets are available at Unicorn Books, IGA Graceway, Saltmills Diner and IGA Gourmet.
For a great evening of laughter and entertainment take in the show on one of the above days or go again as it’s worth seeing over and over again!!
Break a leg!!

Conch Festival
The Turks and Caicos Conch Festival is held each year in Blue Hills and today was the day for fun and conch tasting. The weather was a little cloudy but nonetheless all kinds of delectable conch dishes were prepared and samples served up by the islands best restaurants.
The 6th annual Conch Festival had all kinds of events from marching brass bands, our island queen’s were in attendance, conch blowing, cultural performances, Mojito contest along with my favourite event… the Bamberra Rum Junk A Noo Rush.
The colourful costumes of the swirling dancers combined with goatskin drums, cowbells, horns and other instruments. Everyone joins in as the performers go through some wild and uninhibited dancing as they bang on drums and move down the Blue Hills road. The word “rush” is given to this all-out form of dancing in the streets as people “jump up” to the island rhythms.
Mark your calendars. November is the month for the conch festival so come join us on Provo.

Tiki Hut Halloween
When Doug Camozzi puts on a Halloween party, it’s the only place to be especially since Michael Jackson and Elvis were sighted. The parking lot by the Tiki Hut was full of bumble bees, pirates, fairies, monsters, princesses and others too numerous to mention. Even Dorothy (aka Chevette) was there and took a break to sit on Scarecrow’s knee!
I’ve never seen so many colourful, imaginative costumes and so many people were dressed up from 10 week old baby fairies to toga clad Caesars and we all thought “Nicky Nicolette” had simply the most gorgeous legs! Corey Forbes and friend provided Caribbean music, there were face painters decorating kids’ faces, the jumping castles for the kids along with an assortment of games and of course delicious food……..a grand buffet or burgers and fries served up by the great Tiki Hut staff . Drinks were over flowing too!
Well guys, if you weren’t at the Tiki Hut this evening you missed out on all the fun! Thanks Doug and all the Tiki Hut helpers. We’re going to be there for sure next year and I can’t wait. I have so many more photos but can’t post them all. Be sure to head down to the Tiki Hut in Turtle Cove for lunch or dinner………great specials of the day, great food and even greater friendly staff and service.
See you there!

Island Halloween
HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone!! Tonight’s the night that the little gremlins will be out and about. Head down to the Tiki Hut for the island’s biggest and oldest Halloween party.
Ania says “Admit that he is the cutest thing ever Dad….. Well, let’s be honest, he’s not as cute as me but he comes a close second!!!! See our Grand-puppy below!!!!
And one more photo of Kona……………..
Barry’s comment was “That girl has too much time on her hands sending dress up photos of her dog.”
Have a great Halloween.

Fool’s Regatta 2009
Barry and I headed down after three to take in the festivities at the annual Fool’s Regatta on Saturday. It is always such fun and this year the emphasis was on the kids. Food and drinks along with boat races, tug o’ war, hobie wave racing and a couple of beautiful caicos sloops.
The proceeds from this year’s Regatta went to the Volunteer Fire Fighters and the new National Sailing Centre.

The fire fighters team in the tug o' war............the rope broke three times until someone went and found a less weather beaten rope
Such a fun day………lots of sunshine, great events to watch and best of all we ran into people we hadn’t seen in a while. A time to relax with friends and just enjoy a great day at the beach. We’ll be sure to see you at the Fool’s Regatta in June of next year.
See you then!
