A Beautiful Leeward Afternoon

Ripples on the rocks, ripples in the sand, gentle waves and calm, turquoise waters.

An afternoon spent on the beach at Leeward brought many interesting sights and things to photograph. This island is rich in natural beauty and you don’t even have to look for it. Here are some of the photos taken in just a few hours.

A group of Black-Necked Stilts dropped by for a visit.

Elegant, long pink legs and quite noisy as they circled and dive-bombed .... not sure if there was a nest nearby??

 

Stilts are a common breeding resident of our islands.

 

Leeward rocks with patterns created by the clear waters

 

A small crab scuttles along the rocks and disappears quickly from the camera's view.

 

A grinning potcake with no collar was happily taking a cooling swim.

 

 

A beautiful starfish and look at that water....spectacular!

 

Ten or so starfish but why were quite a few floating? I'm hoping it wasn't that they were dying. Anyone know?

Constant entertainment watching the pelicans as they dive into the water for fish.

So that’s it, a lovely afternoon at Leeward and many photos later.

Stunning Leeward

Stunning colours on the beach at Leeward..........it was so beautiful, soft white sand, warm turquoise waters and a blue sky dotted with white clouds

Clear blue waters with a cruise boat heading off to another spectacular beach

Yes, you too can bask in the sunshine on many of our amazing beaches…….come and see us in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

My computer died and so I'm left with my old computer and some of the photos there. This is one of my favourites of Ania by this lovely turquoise picket fence showing a variety of blues and turquoise colours

My computer died and so I'm left with my old computer and some of the photos there. This is one of my favourites of Ania standing by this charming freshly painted picket fence. The ocean was as spectacular as ever on this day and shows a variety of hues...blues from sea to sky and that amazing turquoise.

Late afternoon .... deck chairs made for two and a gentle, pastel ocean blue

One of my favourite photos taken in the late afternoon one day out at Leeward Beach. Shooting through some wispy sea oats and grasses, two empty deck chairs sit overlooking a spectacular hazy turquoise ocean. Such gentle pastel colours mixed with a brooding cloudy sky set the tone for this photo.

Faith wore a beautiful elegant gown as she posed in the gardens by the pool at Harbour Club Villas.

 Yesterday was an anxious day as we all prayed for NO RAIN …….. one minute the wind was blowing strongly, dark clouds and thankfully just a sprinkling of rain. Faith and I even drove out to the beach at Leeward to see what it was like.  As soon as we saw that brilliant turquoise coloured ocean which was made all the more intense by the cloudy skies, Faith knew the ceremony was going to be at the right beach.

Dan, the groom didn't seem too nervous........I don't know what Barry was pouring into his drink!!

Dan and Faith are all smiles as they exchanged vows on Leeward beach.

The beach was deserted, the clouds threatened rain and made those turquoise ocean colours much more intense. The waves crashed onto the beach with white foaming fury. I don’t think it gets any better than this for an ideal wedding location.

Yeah.........We did it and here we are married at long last!

 Faith’s beautiful bouquet of yellow calla lilies added a splash of sunshine. As soon as we saw the fresh flowers that Louise had brought in to the flower shop at the IGA, those yellow lilies stood out. Put together with a white orchid spray, it made for a simple but lovely bridal bouquet.
