We headed to the beach at Mudjin Harbour. What a spectacular stretch of pure white sand beach with big roller breakers coming in. I went straight towards Dragon Cay as the sand was pretty much exposed across to the Cay.

When a friend of ours was here a few months ago the pool was about nine feet deep with fish swimming in it. Last week the water was only about four feet which means the sand is filling it in. Mother Nature has a way of surprising us as these pools appear and disappear.

I coaxed....."forced" Eve to get into the pool even though the water was quite cold. Better her than me, I say!

We had a lovely day and my sisters were thrilled with their birthday present as they had always wanted to visit another of our beautiful islands. The quiet and tranquil islands of both North and Middle Caicos filled with friendly people will be remembered through these photos.

Ahhhhhh........stunning...what a heavenly piece of paradise on Middle Caicos at Mudjin Bay

As a special birthday celebration for my two sisters, Anna and Eve, we headed off to North and Middle Caicos for the day.  A short ferry ride and an open jeep waiting at Sandy Point and we were off.

We hopped into our jeep and headed along the coastal road past the amazing aqua blue waters of Bottle Creek and across the crumbling causeway. What a sad sight to see all the rubble and rebar sticking up and it sure gives you an bird’s eye view of what a hurricane Cat 4 can do. We first went to see Indian Cave which is just past Conch Bar and is a large cavern with skylight holes through the ceiling.

We were in awe as we took in the breathtaking view from the bluff overlooking Mudjin Harbour and Dragon Cay. One more stop before heading onto the beach where I wanted to find a beautiful rock pool a friend had told me about. I was hoping it was still there.

I made Anna and Eve go down the hand chiselled steps carved into a hole that tunnelled down and opened up at this wonderful little gem of a beach.

Our wonderful day on Middle Caicos will be continued as we try to find the pool that was there by Dragon Cay in early December. I was sure hoping the wave action hadn’t filled it all in with sand.

It is difficult to describe the natural and awesome beauty of Middle Caicos.

We started off by deciding to go out to Leeward Beach. We took a detour going totally in the opposite direction because Anna wanted chicken wings from Sweet T’s for lunch on the beach. I suggested since we were so far from Leeward that we head for Sapodilla Bay. I hadn’t been out there for a good two years and had forgotten how beautiful this beach is.

The tide was going out and the water had formed these ripples in the sand.

We loved the clear, shallow water and as the tide went out, the water created ridges in the powdery white sand.

Put Sapodilla Bay beach on your list of places to see when you head down to the Turks and Caicos Islands. I’ll see you there now that I’ve re-discovered this gem of a beach.

West Caicos Beach

Here's where we spent the afternoon today.........it was so beautiful.

This afternoon, we headed to West Caicos where the ladies were dropped off on the beach and the men headed off for some fishing. We had miles of beach to ourselves and only a pelican checked us out and an osprey that appeared to have a nest up at the far end of the beach.
There were so many Sunrise Tellin shells all along the shore line, some in the seaweed and others where the ocean had dropped them along the beach

A unique face stared up at me as I took photos of a coconut that had been washed up on the beach.

I was reminded of “Winston” from the UPS movie Castaway with Tom Hanks………..can you imagine having something like this to talk to if you were left stranded on a deserted beach like this one?

Sunshine Sunday

This little crab had the most vivid colours I've ever seen, red and orange and blue eyes. I believe it is called a Sally Lightfoot crab.

Another magnificent Provo Sunday enjoying the calm and unbelieveably clear water. It was a joy to be out on the water.

Shades of Blue at the Beach

Sunset this evening was through a bank of clouds creating a gentle, pastel palette of colours. Malaika enjoyed running back and forth as she threw rocks and bits of coral into the water. Little puffy clouds with a sky blue background completed a tranquil moment captured on my camera

The south side of Providenciales where Harbour Club Villas is located is a peaceful and tranquil part of the island. Beautiful beaches with shallow water stretching out quite a ways before getting deep. Perfect for children and of course for bonefishing on the flats.

Taylor Bay Sunday

On clear and calm days, it’s hard to get any work done around the villas. One look at the ocean from the hill and you just have to put everything aside, pack a lunch and lots of drinks and soak in the beauty of the day. The boat skims over the shallow waters of the ocean on the south side of Provo and sometimes it’s so clear that you can see right to the bottom.
Malaika is quite independant now as she strolls along the water's edge at Taylor Bay wearing her water wings.

I spent ages trying to capture a starfish with the foamy edge of a wave coming to shore. Tough to do as my little camera has a slow shutter and I missed many shots!

A beautiful archway of flowers was set up on the beach for a sunset island wedding. We met the groom as he slowly made his way down the beach to greet his guests. The bride wasn’t seen until we started pulling out of the bay to head for home.
Providenciales and the Turks and Caicos Islands have the most wonderful beaches for those wanting an exotic island beach wedding.

A little piece of heaven out on the beach by Osprey Rock

Two calm days in a row and we just had to take advantage of the great weather we’ve been having………..two boating and beaching days in a row.  Today we went off to Osprey Rock at South West Bluff. A few locals were line fishing out at Bonefish Point so we selected to moor off the pirate’s cave.

I wandered inland from the beach and WOW! the surf was high breaking on the reef line. You can just make out the white line of breakers in the photo.

The views were spectacular as I wandered over the rocks and it looks like lots of roads have been bulldozed there now.  We haven’t been out here for a while and I was disturbed by the amount of garbage strewn around. Please bring garbage bags with you and let’s all do our part to keep these fabulous areas clean for everyone to enjoy. I know I will next time!

A great day today! We ended up as usual at Taylor Bay and my next post will be of photos from Saturday and today.
