Blissful Beach of Our Own

Anchored off our own private beach......a blissful weekend with two days of soaking up the sun and this beautiful little beach.

It’s been very rough these past few days on both sides of the island. We decided to head out and just stop off at little Bay Cay. So two days in a row, both Saturday and Sunday were spent enjoying the warm water out of the wind, picnic lunches and cold drinks……..yes, you guessed it….lots of beer!

The water was calm as the island blocked the strong wind that was blowing.

A Beach of Our Own

A little beach all to ourselves on a pre Mother's Day cruise on Saturday afternoon.

A little beach all to ourselves on a pre Mother's Day cruise on Saturday afternoon.

A bit of a late start but we headed out of our little Marina at Harbour Club Villas to our own little piece of beach paradise shared only with the local “introduced”  iguana population (I saw two) and a cruising sting ray.

We moored the boat right off the little beach on Bay Cay

We decided to celebrate Mother’s Day a day early. The water was warm as I headed down the beach through the water to explore the rocks at the far end. The reflections were great and I came up with this photo of the boat moored in some pretty shallow waters right off the beach.

Play time on our own beach as I scrambled over the rocks taking photos.

The rock iguanas were too fast for me today!  You can see Five Cays on the horizon looking towards the Shipyards and Sapodilla Bay beyond.

A surprise visitor cruised by between the two guys and close to the boat.

A friendly Stingray cruised along in the shallows, came right between the guys. Luckily I was on the boat at the time and managed to get a few photos.

Shows you how close to the boat it came and really close to the boys.

Late afternoon and the sun is sinking lower in the sky creating a glistening and sparkling effect on the water.

The joy of afternoons like this one……….idyllic tropic scenery, good friends, a beer or two, or three or more, playtime on a deserted little beach, calm waters and soft sand, always hundreds of things to photograph and of course celebrating Mother’s Day.

Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

Storm Clouds and Potcakes

Watching the dark clouds roll in over the south west tip of Provo on Sunday afternoon

Watching the dark clouds roll in over the south west tip of Provo on Sunday afternoon

A beautiful Sunday afternoon floating around in Taylor Bay. We watched the very dark clouds gathering and creating a spectacular sky over towards the south west point of the island but nothing to worry about as they appeared to be moving off towards West Caicos.

The water was lovely and warm and look at that backdrop.......spectacular!

Turtle Rock peeking out right off the boat engines. There was a clear gap right over Turtle Rock and you could see the bands of heavy rain.

Another Taylor Bay Sunday

"Groovin" on a sunny Sunday afternoon on Provo......it just doesn't get any better than this!!!

"Groovin" on a sunny Sunday afternoon on Provo......it just doesn't get any better than this!!!

I wish my photos did justice to the true colours of the sand, seas and skies on yet another perfect Sunday afternoon dreamily lazing around at Taylor Bay. We got a late start at about 3 pm and cruised on down to Taylor Bay anchoring in 2 feet of water fairly close to shore. The tide was on it’s way out so ever so often we’d drag the anchor further back.

The boat was out in two feet of water as we lay around in the gently rippling water

As the sun slowly sank lower in the sky, we pulled up anchor and headed towards home. As we came towards the marker buoy off Ocean Point, we were greeted by over a dozen sailing boats anchored out in Sapodilla Bay.

Note the marker buoy in the foreground with a Royal Tern perched ontop of it.

Sapodilla Bay had more boats anchored out than I’ve seen in a long while…………. a beautiful sight to see especially as the sun was starting to set.

At least two dozen boats were gently rocking back and forth out in the bay.

A lovely tranquil afternoon. We’re fortunate to be able to enjoy all the stunning beauty around us in the Turks and Caicos Islands. We hope you will book your next holiday and vacation in these “beautiful by nature” islands. See you soon.

A Favourite Beach

Peeking through the ironshore rocks can make for some interesting photo opportunities. The rocks are pretty sharp so watch yourselves. This one was taken out at a small , tucked away beach that most people never get to see. Heavenly!!

I’m always talking about my favourite beach but if the truth be know…..they are all my favourites as each one comes with specialties. The softest sand, the most brilliant shades of water colour, the most amazing clear water, the most deserted, the best for shells, snorkeling or simply swimming and I could go on and on.

Come join us and discover all our many spectacular beaches.

Taylor Bay Starfish

First time sighting of sea stars in the shallow waters of Taylor Bay

First time sighting of sea stars in the shallow waters of Taylor Bay

Malaika was sooooo excited when she first saw some small starfish as she played in the shallows at Taylor Bay this passed weekend. She wasn’t too sure about holding them.

Do you want to hold it as I'm kinda not sure about all this?

We tried to get her to "gently" lay them back in the water but she liked it better when she plopped them into the water
